Concierge Health Care for your Production
Vancouver Concierge Medicine
British Columbia’s TV and film industry contributes significantly to the local economy and to the enjoyment of audiences worldwide. Vancouver Concierge Medicine exists to meet the needs of this growing industry. By keeping everyone on set healthy, from cast to crew, we minimize costly disruptions and delays to production.
Vancouver Concierge Medicine is pleased to provide comprehensive, compassionate, and concierge-style health care for workers in the film and TV industry. We serve studios and production companies in the Greater Vancouver region. We provide multidisciplinary medical services to patients and their families. Our goal is to improve the health and safety of workers in an industry known for its long work hours, variable work environments, and tight scheduling.
We provide physical exams, preventive healthcare checks, and pre-production medical exams for insurance purposes. We also provide timely consults for urgent medical assessments and treatments. We provide personal on-call services in our office, on set, and via house calls.
Dr. Timothy Hsia
Vancouver Concierge Medicine was founded by Dr. Timothy Hsia (pronounced shaw), a family physician born and raised in Richmond, BC. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from Princeton University, and a Masters in Nutrition from Columbia University. Before medical school, he was an intern at United Nations in New York and worked at UCSF under the mentorship of renowned surgeon and oncologist, Dr. Laura Esserman. Dr. Hsia graduated from the Keck School of Medicine of USC (fight on!) and completed his residency in family medicine at UBC.
Although a physician by vocation, Dr. Hsia has a passion to contribute and give back to the arts. In 2017, Dr. Hsia and his brother Stephen were selected to be artists behind the Royal Canadian Mint’s 2017 two-dollar coin to commemorate Canada’s 150th anniversary. Titled “Dance of the Spirits,” this specially designed toonie depicts the Northern Lights and is the world’s first glow-in-the-dark coin in circulation.
In 2018, with a mission to support representation in the North American music industry, Dr. Hsia collaborated with two-time Grammy-winning composer Christopher Tin to be the Executive Producer for his third album, “To Shiver the Sky.” This album was recorded at the legendary Abbey Road Studios with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and features an international roster of singers. In 2022, Dr. Hsia was the Executive Producer for Tin's fourth album, "The Lost Birds," which was nominated for Best Classical Compendium at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards.
For his leadership and contributions to society, Dr. Hsia was the recipient of the 2018 Young Professionals Award, awarded by the VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation.
Today, Dr. Hsia works as a family physician with a focus on serving new families, seniors, new Canadians, and workers in film and TV production in BC. He is also a Clinical Instructor in the UBC Department of Family Medicine.
In his free time, Dr. Hsia enjoys natural history museums, sole fishing, and improvisational comedy. He is also a member of Westside Church in Vancouver.
